A white light flashed outside the porthole of Captain Jek O’Jek’s cabin in the spaceship Amity. Another spark followed, and another and another until so many lights shone so brightly she had to put on starglasses. A star sky. That was odd. There was no star sky on the Intergalaxy Spaceway to Planet Orensha.

She spoke into her wrist computer. “Where are we, Spacester?”

“Unknown,” Spacester said. “We are off course.”
