Guyana was one of the hottest places I’ve ever been. I went to report on its burgeoning oil industry, which gave new impetus to a long-running border dispute with neighboring Venezuela. This is also where, when I was exiting the country, an immigration official was convinced I was a drug trafficker due to all the stamps in my passport.
