Border ranchers fend off Colombian guerrillas

On Venezuela’s border with Colombia, ranchers struggled to deal with guerrillas extorting a “war tax” or protection payments to avoid being kidnapped. Ranchers could only visit their properties with a National Guard escort. I did this report for Business Week.
